AgGeorgia Farm Credit and other farm groups throughout the state are coming together to provide information and resources for military veterans that are beginning farmers or interested in starting agricultural operations. AgGeorgia, Farm Service Agency, Rural Development, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and STAG VETS, Inc., will be hosting an info fair February 10th at the Museum of Aviation on Robins Air Force Base.
The info fair will be a drop-in event from 10:00 am -2:00 pm in the Museum of Aviation’s Art Gallery, with refreshments served, and is free to attend. The museum is located at 1942 Heritage Boulevard, Robins AFB, GA 31098. AgGeorgia, FSA, Rural Development, NRCS, and STAG Vets will each have representatives present ready to provide information and materials specific to how they can assist military veterans in obtaining and establishing their own successful farm operations.
“We are extremely excited to help host an event targeted directly at military vets interested in agriculture," said Corey Cottle, AgGeorgia's Director of Marketing. “This is the first time we have held an event for this specific group, which we have noticed has been growing and gaining interest.”
Rodney Brooks, Beginning Farmer Regional Coordinator for FSA, says the agency is also looking forward to the opportunity to provide needed resources at the event for vets. “Service men and women have a proud legacy of protecting this country and now we want to support them as they consider a new career providing for their friends, family, neighbors, and country through farming and ranching.”
